WORKING FROM HOME
Prologue
NOW
Chloe
His hands raked across my ribcage, and I was on fire. Completely ablaze, and there was nothing I could do about it.
I’d been fighting this for months, and god, it felt like years.
“You feel so fucking good,” he whispered. His voice was a murmur, and it vibrated through me. I could feel it under my skin. “You’re driving me insane. Are you going to let me do this?”
I bit back a moan as his fingertips brushed the curve of my breast.
This wasn’t supposed to happen, this wasn’t part of the plan. What was I doing?
Getting this close to Jack, letting him put his thigh between my legs, feeling his body pin mine against the shelves; this was a risk. The only thing separating us was the thin cotton of my underwear, and the oversized shirt he gave me for Valentine’s Day last month.
This was the part where I should’ve tried to gather my brain cells. I needed to think this through. Because if I let Jack do this… oh god but I couldn’t think. I was so wet, I was aching. I was so desperate for him to slide his fingers between my thighs, that I might’ve–
“Chloe?” His voice was a harsh breath, and I opened my eyes just a peek, taking in his black, disheveled hair, and his darker than dark eyes. His lips were just barely parted, and I could feel his warm breath on my cheek, coming harder, faster, like he couldn’t get enough in his system.
His broad shoulders were blocking my view of his desk, and I gripped the shelf behind me to keep from becoming another item in his inventory.
“I’m trying to think.” My voice was soft and anxious, but he heard me. Enough to groan as he slipped his touch lower, tracing the curve of my spine before he grazed the hem of my underwear.
“Jack, wait.” But even though I asked him to pause, my hips rolled into his thigh, and relief shivered through me.
“You want this, I know you do.”
His deep voice was in my ear, his thigh pressing against me, and I didn’t know if I could stop him. I didn’t know if I wanted to.
“I just,” I breathed, threw my gaze around his shelves, and set a palm on his chest. “Not here. Not in your office.”
